Evergreen Food Guide
Evergreen sits at 7,162 feet in Jefferson County, about 19 miles west of Denver, and its food scene follows the geography. Downtown Evergreen lines Highway 74 beside Bear Creek, just below Evergreen Lake. One of them is Creekside Cellars, a winery that opened to the public in 2000 and serves paninis, cheeses and antipasto on a deck over the creek. Nearby, the Little Bear Saloon, a decades-old music venue with carved names covering its walls and ceiling, changed hands in late 2023 for the first time since the 1970s. Farther north, Bergen Park is the commercial hub, where shopping plazas hold spaces like an espresso bar and bakery serving breakfast and lunch.
The figures here come from our directory as of October 2026, which holds 65 listings. Cafes and coffee lead with 12, followed by bakery and desserts at 7, then restaurants and breakfast and brunch at 6 each. Mexican and fast food each have 5, bar and grill has 4, and sushi, American and breweries and distilleries have 3 apiece. Independent operators make up 86 percent of the list. Only 5 listings are fast food, and one is a food truck. Coffee shows up in 11 listings, breakfast burritos and tacos in 4 each, and wine in 6.
Some practical numbers help when you're deciding where to go. Only 23 of the 65 listings post hours, though 58 have websites and 27 link a menu, so a quick check online is worthwhile before a drive up the canyon. Nine listings have outdoor seating, 5 run happy hours, and 6 mention live music. Nine serve breakfast, 12 offer vegetarian options, 11 offer gluten-free options, and 8 deliver. Late-night eating is scarce, with just 1 listing, and no food halls are listed.
The calendar adds to the picture. The OG Evergreen Farmers Market runs Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., June through September, at Hiwan Heritage Park. Each September, the Big Chili Cook-Off in North Evergreen's Buchanan Park draws close to 3,000 people and raises money for mountain-area fire departments, and Evergreen Oktoberfest follows at the park's ball fields. Late October has brought the HopsDrops music and beer festival to the Lake House. Lariat Lodge Brewing, Evergreen's first brewpub, opened on Halloween 2015 in a lodge built in the 1920s as a music camp dormitory and dining hall.

The Evergreen dining scene
Cafes and coffee spots are the most-listed kind of place on our site, followed by bakeries and dessert shops and breakfast and brunch restaurants, which suits a mountain town where mornings often start with an espresso bar and bakery. Mexican restaurants, fast food and bar-and-grill spots round out everyday dining. Sushi and Japanese, American and Indian and South Asian restaurants add variety. Brewery and distillery listings are here too, and in town you can find a winery making wine from Colorado fruit and Evergreen’s first brewpub.
