Description
The Carter Payne is an event venue, restaurant and bar at 320 South Weber Street in Colorado Springs, set in a building that opened in 1897 as the Payne Chapel AME Church, the first African American church in the city. The space now serves as a gathering place built around seasonal, intentionally sourced food, led by Chef Brent Beavers.
The drinks come from three partners: Local Relic Artisan Ales for handcrafted beer, Crusade for wines by the glass, and Araucana Bespoke Cocktails. The venue hosts public events such as paired beer dinners, Sunday wine school, live music on the patio and cornhole tournaments, along with private events built around each occasion. Online ordering is available, and the website has the event calendar and inquiry form.
