Description
Chimayo Stone Fired Kitchen is a restaurant on Main Avenue in downtown Durango, built around an open exhibition kitchen with two large stone-fired ovens. The menu leans on made-from-scratch Southwestern and Mediterranean cooking, including salads, small plates, artisanal pizzas, fire-roasted steaks and seafood. The restaurant uses Chimayo chile powder, named for the New Mexico town, in many of its dishes and condiments.
The space is a restored historic building from the 1890s, with a 35-foot curved bar serving seasonal craft cocktails, a community Chef's counter, designer booths, an outdoor patio and roll-up garage doors. Sports fans can watch games on the bar TVs. Happy hour, online ordering and reservations are available, and reservations are recommended.
