Downtown Greeley is the historic center of Greeley, a city in Weld County in northern Colorado. The city was founded in 1870 as the Union Colony, an agricultural cooperative colony, and it was named for Horace Greeley, the New York newspaper editor who championed the venture. The downtown core grew around that early settlement and remains the city's civic and commercial heart.
