The restaurant's story starts in Chalatenango, El Salvador, where owner Ana grew up working alongside her mother, who owned and cooked in the family restaurant. Ana later moved to the United States and opened her own place in Littleton, bringing those culinary roots with her.
The kitchen leans on Salvadoran traditions, including the pupusa, a handmade corn flatbread stuffed with fillings such as cheese, chicharrón, refried beans or loroco. Takeout, delivery, online ordering and catering are available. A second El Lucero location operates in Denver.
