Description
The Airplane Restaurant is an American restaurant and bar at 1665 N Newport Rd in Colorado Springs, built around a fully intact 1953 Boeing KC-97 tanker. The restaurant opened in the plane in May 2002, and 42 of its 275 seats are inside the aircraft. Aviation photos, memorabilia and artifacts fill the rest of the space.
The menu is American comfort food with aviation-themed names: chicken wings in Buffalo, spicy Asian, BBQ or teriyaki sauce, burgers, a Reuben, fish and chips, baked spaghetti and Angus steaks. Takeout is available. The restaurant takes group and party bookings for more than 10 people by phone, though seats in the plane itself can't be reserved.
