About Downtown Colorado Springs
Downtown Colorado Springs is the historic core of the city, and Tejon Street and Pikes Peak Avenue are two of its main streets. The area sits at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, with Pikes Peak rising to the west of the city. Colorado Springs was founded in 1871 by General William Jackson Palmer. Today the blocks hold a mix of offices, shops, bars, coffee houses and restaurants in a compact, walkable area. Acacia Park, a long-standing downtown green space, is a familiar landmark in the middle of it all. For this guide, we count places within about a half mile of Tejon Street and Pikes Peak Avenue.
